Great
Sermon Curtis…
At
this time I wanted to focus on something for a moment that is not brought up
often in our tradition. It is the term Lament…Lament means…1. To grieve audibly; wail. 2. To express sorrow or regret. We are
going to pray and sing a couple songs…during this time I ask you to search
yourself…you can allow yourself this
time to question…God.
It seems tha someof us have somehow learned that asking
questions of God is irreverent, especially if those questions have a rebuking
tone. But the book of psalms teach us that such questions are a central part of
a relationship with God, and Scripture as a whole teaches us that God can
probably handle our mild rants once in a while.
You can start your prayer with an interrogative word such as
why or where
or when or how
long. (The phrase how long, in
fact, is used more than twenty times in the psalms alone.)
We will pray silently for a moment and continue with song as
you finish your prayer join in the singing to God.
